In honor of the nation’s 18th annual Make a Difference Day, we partnered with the Kensington Area Neighborhood Advisory Committee for a mile-long street and lot cleanup on Friday, October 23.  Over 200 students and staff collected more than two tons of trash and debris along Frankford Ave. and painted a bridge at the corner of Frankford Ave. and Lehigh Ave.

Make a Difference Day is a national celebration of neighbors helping neighbors, with millions of people participating in thousands of projects. The October day of service is a part of YouthBuild tradition — adopting an area of the city in an effort to transform young people’s lives while revitalizing neighborhoods.

As part-time AmeriCorps members, every student will complete 675 hours of service over the next year as a way to reconnect with their communities.  Our next major service project will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we encourage our friends and supporters to join us on this day of service.  For more information, contact Chas Ryan, Community Project Coordinator.Lot Clean-up for Make a Difference Day
