All staff are responsible for the following:
- Participating in staff meetings
- Participating in school-wide community service projects in keeping with the
service ethic of the school
- Acting as a mentor for designated students
- Involvement in at least one extracurricular activity (e.g. yearbook, prom)

- Working to establish a base of trust with each student

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Case Management Operations:
- Believe deeply in the mission and values of YouthBuild Philadelphia
Assist students in resolving obstacles to their educational and
vocational success
- Advocate for students experiencing social, emotional or legal
difficulties
Connect students in need to appropriate resources at school and in the
City
- Maintain student information in case management files accurately and
professionally
- Track student attendance daily, enter attendance into student database
daily, as well as conduct attendance-follow-ups during school day with
teachers and other program staff
- Inform relevant staff including teachers and mentors and managers when
students are in crisis or otherwise missing school
- Participate in and help coordinate recruitment and admissions activities
- Attend weekly all-staff and department meetings and other meetings as
required by the Director of Case Management and the Director of
Programming
Case Management Leadership:
- Hold high expectations for each student in the school
Create and teach challenging and engaging life skills lessons and
gender based groups
- Model professional behavior for students at all times
- Exhibit positive rapport with students
- Develop teamwork and leadership skills of students
Program Involvement:
- Participate in community service projects in keeping with service
ethic of the school
- Participate in one or more extra curricular activities—such as
basketball, cheerleading, yearbook committee, prom committee
Professional Development:
- Continue to develop skills through trainings and professional
development offered at the school and outside at workshops, and
conferences
- Maintain knowledge of social trends and interventions related to urban
youth.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Case Management and the
Director of Programming.
Qualifications
- At least five years case-management experience
- Excellent counseling skills with non-judgmental approach.
- Experience with case-management principles and techniques
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience working in a team setting
- Ability to work enthusiastically with young people who have not
completed high school
- Deep respect for the ideas and intelligence of young adults
- Strong commitment to helping young adults succeed in reorienting
their lives, nurture their leadership skills, and enable them to make a
difference in their community

IT & Business Administration Program Coordinator and Instructor
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Education Operations:
- Teaching high school students how to refurbish donated computers,
which then get distributed to local schools, churches, and various
non-profit community organizations
- Create an enterprise where students interact with corporate donors,
design and maintain inventory databases, and provide technical support
to their peers and recipient organizations
- Possess an extensive knowledge of computer hardware,
troubleshooting, and refurbishing
- Train students to provide help desk support to local non-profit
organizations
- Train students to pass Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
certification, which helps students learn and demonstrate Internet and
digital literacy skills as well as the MCAS (Microsoft Certified
Application Specialist) and A+ certification
- Train students to design, create, and host websites for local
non-profit organizations
- Coordinate the instructional, operational and materials needs of the
IT program
- Hold high expectations for each student, and be able to establish
positive rapport with students
- Provide appropriate and effective supervision and professional
development for two AmeriCorps members, who support the technology
program's mission.
- Demonstrate strong pedagogy and effective classroom management
Attend all staff and department meetings
Education Leadership:
- Model professional behavior for students at all times
Act as a role mode for students
- Develop teamwork and leadership skills of students
Professional Development:
- Continually improve teaching skills by seeking out constructive
feedback and professional development opportunities
- Attend retreats, workshops, and conferences, as required.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Vocational Programming.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least two years of teaching experience
- Experience/strength in content area
- Commitment to working with underserved students
- Commitment to the design and development of YBPCS
Preferred:
- Masters in Education/Teaching or content area
- Experience teaching in an urban school
