Launches Youth Foundation with Day of Greening
Former High School Dropouts Lead Community Beautification Projects in
Honor of Global Youth Service Day

More than 200 students/staff from YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School and
local community partners from Francisville NDC, HACE CDC, and the
Village of Arts and Humanities.
WHAT: YouthBuild Philadelphia's Youth Foundation will lead three
environmentally friendly service projects in partnership with local
community organizations.

WHY: YouthBuild Philadelphia students are former high school dropouts
who each complete at least 675 hours of service prior during the one-year
program as a way to reconnect with their communities, while earning their
high school diplomas.
YouthBuild Philadelphia's Youth Foundation is a student organization
responsible for planning service projects and allocating the school's
resources to support the community.
Global Youth Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes
the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of
the year through service and service-learning. GYSD is the largest service
event in the world and is now celebrated in over 100 countries. On GYSD,
children and youth address the world's most critical issues in partnership
with families, schools, community and faith-based organizations, businesses,
